Mobile applications come from Google Play and the Apple App Store. Desktop MetaTrader comes from the broker's platform page or the MetaQuotes site. The web terminal needs no download at all.
How to spot a fake
Cloned apps typically have a very small review count, a developer name that does not match the brand, recent publication dates and a listing that pushes you to a chat channel for support.
- Check the developer name, not just the app name and icon
- Be suspicious of any download hosted on a file locker or forum
- Never install a platform sent to you by a person
- Verify the domain before downloading a desktop installer
After installation
Run the platform once and connect to a demo account before entering live credentials. A cloned app usually fails at this step because it cannot reach the real server.
